That’s it in a nutshell.

They’ve jumped to a conclusion and embraced and fortified their position and will go down with their global warming ship.

Sure, the earth’s climate has been a lot warmer and a lot colder at different periods of earth’s history. At one time, both the North and South Poles resembled tropical jungles.

Of course this was at a time when there were a lot more green house gasses in the atmosphere, warming the earth.

People confuse weather with climate, and that is why so many people have jumped on the Global Warming bandwaggon. Plus Global Warming has the similar initials as George Bush, GW, and we all know that Gdubya is to blame for all the bad weather (hurricanes, tornadoes, etc).

Sure the Ice caps are melting, but that is just how are plannet works. We are still thawing off from an ice age and of course the ice caps would melt. It has happened many many times over history.

Plus how long have extremely accurate thermometers been arround. Ones that are accurate to the hundredth place. My guess is not very long. So how can we say with certainty that the average temperature has increased a half degree over the last hundred years?

It is all a bunch of Al Gore B.S.

like 5 scientists have claimed that. all the peer reviews show that the majority of scienetists beliueve in man made cliamte change. everyone’s gonna die. i just wish i was still here to laugh at you and say i told you so. i just think it’s funny. if you think the human race has any value, you really should start doing soemthing instead of arguing with people just cos you think they’re hippies, or liberals, or democrats or whetaver the f.

i dont jump on every weird weather event, but you can jump on the trends. check out the pictures of receeding glaciers in the andes. that’s a trend not an anomaly.

besides, what does anyone stand to gain from talking about global warming? according to loads of reputable scientists we’re screwed anyway, so who’s going to benefit from trying to convince others of the truth of global warming? the other way round, the global warming deniers, like oil companies or air conditioning manufacturers, or george bush (with all his finacial business itnerests) all stand to benefit, what does al gore get out of baging on about it?

i dont believe you weatherman. you watch all the poor people die in bangladesh as the water rises or in africa as the desert marches on, and you carry on fiddling while rome burns.

Coleman’s opinion is irrelevant. He’s a weatherman, not a climate scientist. Christy is entitled to his opinion, but why would you choose to trust a handful of scientists over the thousands who agree that humans are the primary cause of the current global warming? Do you seriously think they’re all in on a giant scam? Seriously? Christy isn’t calling it a scam, so is he in on it too?

To answer your question, yes, the climate has been warmer in the Earth’s past. Most recently about 100,000 years ago.

Of course, most of the species alive now did not exist 100,000 years ago, so it’s not exactly a comparable situation. The problem is that the planet is currently warming at a rate about 20 times faster than when it naturally comes out of an ice age, and species cannot adapt to a climate that’s changing so fast.

Global Warming is a science. It is true that the earth goes through natural cycling of heating and cooling, but this natural cycle has been aggrevated by the excess carbon. I’ll tell you that basically there is a theory that the melting of the icecaps will not only flood our lands but bring on another iceage. I am a serious supporter of the environment, but I will say that the earth has been around for 7 billion years and has survived a lot. It will certainly survive us. But the only question is…will we?

You mean that global warming isn’t real?!?! What am I gonna do with all of these carbon credits that I bought for loads of money from Al Gore’s company?!?! If Al Gore is right, I should sell my house, buy a boat and a gun and prepare for the end of the world. If that’s not true, what the hell am I supposed to live in until the end of the world?!?! OH THE HUMANITY!!!!

yes, the climate has been warmed up before, but never so drastically. and global warming isnt something to believe in, you are right., it is fact. the only thing disputed about global warming is what is causing it. is it narutal or caused by humans? the bad thing about global warming, whether natural or caused by us, is mainly the riseing sea levels from the melting of glaciers. think of all the animals and people that will be displaced or go extinct if the glaciers melt. polar bears will fall victim, they already are, and humans living in low lying areas will be displaced.. along with that, animmals, especially from artic areas will become extinct or endangered because their habitats are simply dissapearing.

Even if global warming was the big threat they say it is, Which i dont belive, has anyone looked at positive results in places like…Oh i dont know, Siberia? Maybe the poor folks in the colder climes might like a little global warming. maybe they could take up farming. God forbide the planet not stay exactly as it was yesterday. Oh no! Maybe it was my SUV that killed the dinasours.

The result was that coastlines were very different, and that plants grew in completely different locations.

The damage that would do to our coastal cities and agriculture is enormous.

Christy has nothing but rhetoric, no good data. The global warming scientists have mountains of data supporting their case. This is science - data trumps rhetoric.

On one side you have the founder of the Weather Channel, who was basically a TV weatherman. On the other the Weather Channel itself and hundreds of meteorologists in the American Meteorological Association, many with advanced degrees and years of research experience. It’s not a close call.

For the first 2 billion years the planet Earth was inhabitable because it was so hot and the CO2 level was off the charts. Life on any level did not appear until later. So, yes the Earth has been much hotter, much, much hotter, and also much much colder. Right now we are in an interglacial (warming) stage as we have been for the last 10,000 years.

Now, there are a lot of reasons why the planet it having strange weather right now, and if you want to explore this further all you have to do is read up on it to get the entire picture. It’s fascinating. But don’t listen to politicians and their scare tactics. Listen to scientists who have been writing about climate change for a hundred years or more. This is nothing new.
