They play on people’s desperation for a quick fix.

The ones that almost incite me to violence are the ones who appeal to people deep in debt. These people are desperate and the charlatans claim that if a person sends them money (seed) God will give them even more money in return.

Which makes their God a slot machine with a guaranteed payoff.

Human stupidity cannot be overestimated.

Pat Robertson became a religious charlatan when he failed the bar exam after completing law school. He is well known for his support for Charles Taylor, former president of Liberia who is currently on trial for war crimes. He (Taylor) is allegedly responsible for slaughtering nearly one million Liberians, far more people than Saddam is accused of slaughtering.

Any Christian who supports Pat Robertson is seriously misguided. Pat Robertson is a billionaire who uses his religious organizations as a front for his global criminal enterprise. The only reason he has not been indicted and sent to prison is due to his bribery of political officials, including George Bush members of the GOP.

Because they are blinded by their worship. They worship money and Jesus, but they diminish the importance of God. Good question!

While I believe there are some scam artists out there, not all televangelists who preach about PROSPERITY are. Prosperity is not just about money, but most people seem to need more money. The Bible illustrates many, many times how prosperous God wants us to be. God’s prophets were broke and King Solomon was the richest man who ever lived. If we don’t know the Word how can we achieve the blessing. As Christians, we are supposed to tithe. God owns everything we have, but only requires 10% from us out of obedience. I tithe and I don’t believe that I give my money to scam artists, but if they turned out to be scam artists, ten they’ll have to answer to God because I have done what I am supposed to do. I used to be a skeptic, but I can see the change that tithing is making in my life.

You don’t have to be dysfunctional to believe what is written in black and white in the Bible. Tithing is required whether you give it to your church or send it to another church.

This is what is referred to as Priest Craft. Selling God as a livelihood. I like the way the movie Oh God delt with the subject.

I usually watch Pat Robertson and he is more about helping people and spreading the gospel than money. There is always up to date news and different people giving testimonies on CBN.

They stumble little ones and should have a milstone tie around the neck and pitched into the sea.

First of all you notice these clowns are all prosperity preachers who all insist the way to prosperity is to empty your wallet into their ministry for a Hundred fold Blessing. You will also notice they time their shows at an hour when people who aren’t desperate, lonely and troubled are sound asleep, and the one’s awake are fatigued, not thinking straight and ready to take a chance on an unlikely miracle, or out of loneliness will call in for counseling where the advice they get is to write a big check to Creflo Dollar, Peter Popoff, Benny Hinn or any of the other frauds and thieves who buy air time to cynically victimize the poor in spirit and enrich themselves on the pain and gullibility of the weak and distressed. These men are evil in Armani suits, and if there was a god they’d have been turned into pillars of camel dung long ago.

I can’t answer as to WHY people give money. My opinion is that they honestly believe in what these televangelists are saying to them. I do know that these programs are targeted at the elderly of our nation. Older people who maybe can’t get out and worship at a church like they did in their past. From working in the medical field and taking care of the elderly, I know that they feel like they need to help someone in any way that they can. It makes them feel important and like they have a purpose still in life. Giving money to these programs makes them feel like they are helping. Because of their mental conditions, they aren’t fully aware of what they are doing.

You’re right most of them do. Just don’t let that make you think that they _at all_ represent Christianity. They’re just slick con men using religion as a prop for their scam.

If you look a little harder there are real Christian evangelists out there who are only concerned with preaching the Gospel. Charles Stanley on the TV and Chuck Swindol on the radio are a couple of my favourites.

2 Timothy 3:6 talks about these guys. Best not to even listen to them.
